  i am no longer one of jehovah's witnesses(well mentally that is)---however i am a christian...i recently started reading different translations from www.biblegateway.com...jesus is so different to how the jw's teach....and god...i mean, i still am learning and confused about certain things but i am in love with them.... it's obvious that the jw's are not an organization of god.i don't think god is working through an organization but through individuals...however i am going to speak to an elder tomorrow about my issues---all of them---and i'm going to tell him everything--what i've been reading,where i got it from---everything!!

  i'm not hiding anything!

  i have done no wrong....i just want to be a true christian and if they disfellowship me for seeking answers then this is not where i need to be.

  I think I understand why you want this oppurtunity and I say GO FOR IT !!! You are right ,YOU have done nothing wrong . Putting your questions out there and confronting them with them can give you closure ,because you will see they do not have God behind them or truth . You really don't know this for sure until you give them the chance .

  You already said you have no JW family ,so no problem there . As for 'friends', you will find in time they will avoid you announcement or not ...the ones that still have contact with will feel obliged to 'encourage' you back into activity . So I think for your own peace of mind go ahead with the discussion .

  You have been warned of all the consequences ,but only you know what benefit will be derived personally by going through with this .

  Don't feel so bad about this situation .

  You said yourself you have a sack full of questions ....taking time to examine what the true answers are to those questions are what you should be concerned with ,take this time to educate yourself .

  Why would you want to be in a position of authority as a MS influencing others when you are not 100% sure yourself ? Sorry ,but it makes you sound immature and only concerned with outside appearances

  Maybe the Uncle should fien interest by attending studies with her ,and bringing up thoughtful questions she may not be mature enough to come up with yet. Attend meetings with her and make observations she may not be seeing . Since her parents don't seem as plugged in she is lucky to have an Uncle that cares .

  I could not say it better than Nugget has already stated .....teach her some critical thinking skills through conversations . Avoid attacking the JW religion ,but bring up thinking type questions . Help her to think ahead (something most young teens don't do well )

  Did you experience classdivision while being JW?

  we all know how jw brag about their strong internal love.

  all are treated equal no matter rank, color, money, status etc.

  Growing up in a 'divided' household puts you on the bottom of the totem pole ,so to speak, in the congregation. As a child we were NEVER invited to other Witnesses homes ,but my Mother was asked continually to help out single sisters ,or older elderly ones ,and she ALWAYS did .

  When I married another Witness I got to see what it was like to be accepted ,because of his family we had many invitations to others homes ect . However after a few yrs once my husband refused to reach out to become a MS those invites evaporated . Even his own step brother stopped associating with us, in his words because 'we did not seek spiritual goals' like he and his wife did . So even though we were regular publishers ,always attended all meetings, assemblies and volunteered for Quick builds we just were not spiritual enough for .them

  Are you registered to vote????

  on monday i'm going to register to vote since i'm able to do so when i renew my drivers license.

  i'm actually kind of excited since i never did register because of they way i was brought up.. how many of you are registered to vote?.

  Introduction Bio

  hi everyone, i would like to introduce myself and tell my story.

  from the standpoint of being one of jehovahs witnesses, my whole family is deeply involved as i was the 5th generation of witness and any children that my brothers or sister have will be the sixth generation.

  as some of my brothers and sisters are grandparents, i guess that makes their grandchildren a potential 7th generation.

  WELCOME JAKE , I so appreciated your bio-post . My husband and I left six yrs ago.......I could relate to many of the things you experienced . I plan on saving your story to share with my sons ,because you put the JW experience into words better than I could ever do .Thankfully all my kids have faded too ,but I don't think they have ever looked deeply into why the JW religion is so wrong and distructive .

  Is it possible to have your Aunt's number blocked from your phone ? You do not need that kind of discouragement . The first year is the hardest ,be patient ,and keep dong what you are doing . Just maintain with your Mom that you are busy working ect...

  Do not be afraid to stand up for what is best for YOU !!! You are now an adult on your own ,figure out what you really need and want personally (not what others impose upon you ) and get busy doing those things that matter to you .

  My Partner and I have been together for 10 years today!

  i am very proud that we have been together for 10 years!

  being raised a jw, it was always hard for me to find a long term relationship.

  most people that i met weren't interested in anything long term, and each time one ended, it left me feeling like i would never find someone who shared the same feelings.

  i have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.

  i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.

  maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.
